Who We Are
Northgate Education Foundation (NEF) is a nonprofit organization founded in Kenya in 2015 with a heartfelt mission to transform the lives of underprivileged children through education, compassion, and empowerment.
We believe that every child deserves the chance to learn, dream, and thrive in a safe and nurturing environment. Guided by integrity, compassion, and service, we work with communities to break the cycle of poverty through education and opportunity.
Our programs provide not only access to quality education but also shelter, mentorship, and essential support for holistic child development.

We Educate
We believe that education is the foundation for lifelong transformation.
Through the Nisome Initiative, NEF builds and equips schools with modern facilities and essential learning materials, ensuring that every child can learn in a safe, nurturing environment.
We support the enrollment of vulnerable children in quality schools and promote holistic, values-based learning spaces that inspire curiosity, creativity, and growth.

Our empowerment programs strengthen both learners and communities through training, skills development, and wellness support.
We offer capacity building for educators, ICT empowerment for youth, and skills training through the Uko Ready Initiative, preparing beneficiaries for future opportunities.
Through the Dishi Mtaani Initiative, we run nourishment and feeding programs that promote health and productivity.
Our Cycle of Wellness framework integrates nutrition, mental health, and personal development for lasting impact.

We champion values-based education and promote the overall well-being of children and youth.
Our Unchained Initiative drives conversations and programs around mental wellness, child protection, and advocacy against drugs and substance abuse, empowering young people to make healthy and informed life choices.
We also encourage healthy living practices that foster resilience, confidence, and responsible citizenship.
Impact Stories
A New Chapter for Mary
Mary, a 10-year-old orphan, once struggled to stay in school due to lack of fees and food. Through NEF’s sponsorship and feeding program, she now attends school full-time and dreams of becoming a teacher.
“Now I can go to school every day ; And I’m never hungry in class,” she says with a smile.
From Street to School — Brian’s Journey
Brian spent most of his early years on the streets after losing his parents. NEF placed him in a partner shelter home, where he received care, education, and mentorship. Today, he’s in high school and excelling in mathematics.
“NEF gave me a second chance at life. I want to help other children like me one day.”
